ARTIST STATEMENT
My painting style is abstract. But the audience seeing it says that it is an ancient fossil—that you paint fossils in paintings.
Sometimes I try to see from their point of view, even from my own perspective, and I get to see similar figures. But the pictures I made have taken the form of those shapes themselves.
The color of the world of my paintings is made layer by layer, and this process goes on for a long time.
The shapes that I did not deliberately mark, but by applying layers of my colors, they take the form of literal forms from the past by themselves.
I see such colors in these rough forms, which do not simply apply color on the canvas.
In this harmony of colors, even on the flat surface of the canvas, I can see levels beneath the colors. Sometimes one color is seen below, sometimes another above—sometimes it is seen from below.
